Family portraits in their happy place...

Every summer for the past 20 years, I have had the pleasure of spending time on Nantucket. My husband and I, and now our children, find our time there to be the most relaxing and enjoyable weeks of our year. Our memories of good times with friends and each other could fill an encyclopedia. Several years ago, we began having our annual family portraits taken on Nantucket and now that I have launched my photography business, I am so happy to offer sessions to families when I am on island. Capturing families each year as they grow and change in the places that are most special to them is incredibly important to me.

This amazing family reached out to me to have family portraits taken in the charming village of Sconset, where they have been traveling as a family for ages. Despite the weather calling for storms all week, we had a perfect evening with that glowy, golden hour light that you hope for. Of course, as soon as I met this crew by Sconset Market, I knew I was in for a good time. Not only are they incredibly warm and hysterically funny, but we immediately discovered we have friends in common and live in adjacent towns back in 'reality' (i.e. the mainland). We started our session off on the adorable footbridge in Sconset and made our way down to the beach. The kids were not afraid to hop in the water at the end of our session and take a few leaps from the lifeguard tower to cap our evening off just right.

This week is the last week of summer vacation for most kids in Massachusetts which gives us one last change to capture that summer feeling. I am off to Brewster on Cape Cod to capture family portraits for a 50th anniversary and may have to sneak in a little beach time while I am there. I must say my job has some serious perks!
